Description
The Highway-Railroad Grade Crossing Surface Repair Program helps to fund the rebuilding of highway-railroad grade crossings to ensure they are safe and smooth. This program is available to public crossings and invites cities, counties, railroads, and spur track owners as eligible applicants. It provides $900,000 annually from Iowa's Road Use Tax Fund for these surface repairs, covering 60% of repair costs. The remaining 40% is split equally between the highway authority and the railroad.
