This grant opportunity funds research projects that fit the NIH's definition of a clinical trial. It starts with a one-year planning phase and may extend to a five-year clinical trial phase. Both traditional and innovative methods are welcome. However, it does not support trials involving FDA-regulated drugs, devices, or biologics.

Specifically: Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Organizations) are not eligible to apply; and Non-domestic (non-U.S.) components of U.S. Organizations are not eligible to apply. However, foreign components (as defined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement) are allowed in applications from eligible U.S. organizations.
