The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) started the National Consortium on Alcohol and Neurodevelopment in Adolescence (NCANDA) in 2012. This initiative aims to understand how alcohol affects brain development during adolescence and its impact on adulthood. With data from over 800 individuals aged 12 to 32, the study covers before, during, and after the critical period for binge drinking.
