The Basic Center Program (BCP) offers temporary shelter and support to youth under 18 who have left home or are homeless. It provides up to 21 days of emergency shelter along with food, clothing, counseling, and healthcare referrals. The program aims to reunite youth with their families or find alternative placements.   • Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
  • Private institutions of higher education
  • State governments
  • Special district governments
  • Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
Additional Eligibility Information
Eligible applicants include public and non-profit private agencies and coordinated networks of such entities. For-profit organizations are not eligible. Private institutions of higher education must be non-profit entities. In selecting applicants to receive grants under this funding announcement, priority will be given to public and non-profit, private agencies that have experience in providing services to runaway, homeless, and street youth.
