What it is

  • NSF’s Crosscutting Activities in Materials Research (XC) supports activities that cut across the Division of Materials Research (DMR) and, when appropriate, across NSF. It emphasizes diversity and inclusion, international cooperation, education, and broad community engagement (e.g., summer schools, institutes, workshops, conferences that don’t fit neatly into a single DMR program). XC replaced the Office of Special Programs in 2016.
