Description

The NHLBI Career Transition Award offers funding for up to five years, providing support in two phases: an up to two-year mentored intramural phase, and a three-year extramural phase. Transitioning to the extramural phase is contingent on a successful NHLBI progress review, evaluating the awardee's research achievements and proposed plan at the extramural institution.

Additional Eligibility Information
Program structure and who applies: This K22 has two phases. Applications for the mentored intramural phase can only be submitted by the NHLBI Intramural Program on behalf of intramural candidates. NHLBI Intramural Program cannot submit applications for the transition to the independent phase; the extramural (independent) phase application must be submitted by the extramural institution (domestic).
