General: The applicant institution for submission will be the mentored phase (K99) institution. Sponsoring institutions may be public or private (nonprofit or for-profit), including NIH Intramural Programs and other Federal laboratories. All organization types listed are eligible for both the K99 (mentored) and R00 (independent) phases, with exceptions noted below.
