This grant opportunity is for research focused on creating new screening methods and treatments for conditions detected through newborn screening. This includes both conditions already being screened for and serious genetic conditions that could soon benefit from early detection. The research is important because accurate screening tests and proven benefits of early intervention are often required before new conditions can be added to newborn screening programs.

This NOFO encourages research relevant to the development of novel screening approaches and/or therapeutic interventions for conditions for which newborn screening has already been implemented, as well as for potentially fatal or disabling genetic conditions that could benefit in the near future…
