The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) was created by Congress in 1964 to protect natural areas, water resources, and cultural heritage while offering recreational opportunities to Americans. It aims to strengthen communities, preserve history, and safeguard lands and waters across the nation. Since 1965, the LWCF has provided $5.2 billion to support over 45,000 projects nationwide.
