Description

The Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) is a federal formula grant that gives funding to U.S. states and territories to improve commercial truck and bus safety. Its goal is to reduce crashes, injuries, deaths, and hazardous materials incidents involving commercial motor vehicles. As a formula grant, money is allocated by a set formula (not a competitive process) to support state-level safety and enforcement efforts.
